The concept

League format. Code of Points scoring.

ECC is a season-long leading club league in Men's Artistic Gymnastics. Up to 32 clubs from across Europe compete over 10 weeks through the Elevien platform: gymnasts perform at their home gyms, judges score remotely.

The routine scoring stays 100 percent World Gymnastics Code of Points. The team competition layer, with its league standings and points rules, is owned by the ECC and sanctioned by European Gymnastics.

The Final 4 stays online too: from 28 to 31 January 2027 the top four clubs meet in one online event of six matches, every club against every other, played through the Elevien platform, to crown the first ECC champion. Onsite Final 4s in a host city are planned for the future, with no date set.

How it works

From Register to Final 4 in 10 weeks

A season structured for drama at every stage. Eight groups of four play three matchdays, the best 16 clubs of the combined table go straight into the Round of 16, and the Quarter-Finals produce the Final 4, played out online in one finale window from 28 to 31 January 2027.

The scoring model

Code of Points on the apparatus. Points in the league.

A two-layer system that keeps every routine judged by the World Gymnastics Code of Points, and gives every apparatus win a stake in the league standings. The same logic football applies at match level, applied per apparatus.

Each apparatus is a head-to-head duel: the higher judge score wins it and earns 3 Points for the club. The margin doesn't matter — a win by 0.1 counts the same as a win by 1.5. An exact tie gives 1 point to each club.

Six apparatus per match means up to 18 points on the table. The club with more points wins the match and takes 3 league points.

Rules & format

The competition, in detail

Every match, every apparatus, every judge. The Rulebook and the Scoring Model are the official documents of the Pilot Season 2026; the cards below summarise them.

Match format

Two clubs face off across six apparatus duels: Floor Exercise, Pommel Horse, Still Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars, High Bar.

One gymnast per club per apparatus, head to head. The higher final routine score wins the duel: 3 Points to the winner, 0 to the loser, 1 each for an exact tie. Up to 18 Points are available in a match.

Roster and eligibility
  • Each club pre-declares its roster at registration. There is no maximum roster size.
  • One gymnast per apparatus per match, maximum 2 apparatus per gymnast, so a club needs at least 3 gymnasts.
  • Every gymnast holds a valid licence of their own national federation or a valid FIG Licence, and meets the FIG senior age category for 2026.
  • Single-club rule: no gymnast is registered for more than one ECC club, and no transfers between clubs during the Pilot Season.
  • Any gymnast on the pre-declared roster may be fielded in any round. No limit on changes between rounds, no documentation required. An injured gymnast is replaced from the roster.
Foreign gymnasts

Each club may include at most one foreign gymnast on its roster.

  • A foreign gymnast is one licensed by a national federation other than the club's own, determined by FIG Licence and licensing history, not by passport alone.
  • A foreign gymnast must hold a valid FIG Licence; no licence from the club's own federation is required, and no residency or citizenship check applies.
  • The club's signed Statement of Clearance covers this declaration. Disputes follow the appeals chain: Club, EG MAG Technical Committee, EG Executive Committee.
Recording in the Elevien app
  • Routines are recorded directly in the Elevien app, within the recording window published for each matchday or round. A video that started before the window closed has 15 minutes to finish uploading. A video that started after the window closed, or did not finish within those 15 minutes, is not evaluated and scores zero.
  • Single continuous take, no cuts or post-production, with the timestamp embedded by the app at the moment of recording.
  • Stable, clear, properly framed footage in landscape orientation: full body, the relevant part of the apparatus and the landing visible throughout. A tripod is recommended, handheld recording is allowed if the footage meets this standard.
  • Equal conditions: FIG-compliant apparatus over a hard landing (no pit), one additional soft mat allowed, adequate lighting.
  • A routine that cannot be fully evaluated counts as missing. Re-recording only after a verified technical platform failure.
Remote judging

The judge pool is nominated and approved by the EG MAG Technical Committee (minimum level: international Category 1-3 judges). If a pool cannot be filled at that level, it may be supplemented with judges holding the highest national brevet of the relevant federation. Each round runs as one competition in the Elevien app, so the panel for an apparatus is the same for every gymnast on it in that round.

  • The Pilot Season plans one D judge and six E judges per apparatus.
  • The E-score is a trimmed average: the two highest and the two lowest of the six E scores are dropped, and the average of the remaining two is the E-score. Final routine score = D-score + E-score, identical for every gymnast in the round.
  • Judges score from any location within the round's scoring window, do not see who else is on their panel, and are not told which of their scores were dropped. There is no restriction on which clubs a judge may score.
  • Full audit log of every score, outlier review by MAG TC, and a random 5 to 10 percent recording audit per round.
Scoring, standings and tiebreaks

The club with more Points wins the match. Match win = 3 league points, draw = 1, loss = 0.

All 32 clubs are ranked in one combined table after the group stage, in this order:

  • League points
  • Points differential (P+ minus P-)
  • Total Points won (P+)
  • Sum of E-scores across the season

Positions 1 to 16 qualify for the Round of 16 (1 v 16, 2 v 15 and so on, fixed bracket). A drawn knockout match is decided by the higher aggregate of the six routine scores, then the higher sum of E-scores, then the higher position in the combined table.

If fewer than 32 clubs are confirmed, the ECC Committee sets the group format before the draw; with fewer than 24 clubs the top 8 go directly to the Quarter-Finals.

Apply for Pilot Season 2026

Bring your club to the European stage

Clubs apply directly to the ECC Committee. There is no admission playoff and no federation endorsement letter: the club itself confirms its eligibility by signing the ECC Statement of Clearance.

Who can apply

  • A registered member club of a European Gymnastics national federation in good standing
  • Fulfils its federation's requirements to compete in the senior MAG category
  • Commits to the full Pilot Season calendar, shown under How it works, including the Final 4 from 28 to 31 January 2027
  • Designates one official representative for all ECC communications

How registration works

  1. Registration is open now. Deadline: 16 November 2026. No late entries.
  2. Documentation: club profile, roster pre-declaration and the signed ECC Statement of Clearance, which also stands as the club's acceptance of the Rulebook.
  3. Confirmation by the ECC Committee (two representatives each from European Gymnastics and Elevien), by 19 November 2026.
  4. Entry fee: EUR 500 per club, paid after the club is accepted and before the competition starts on 23 November 2026. Payment instructions follow the acceptance.

Withdrawal deadline: a club may withdraw and receive a full refund of the entry fee up to the start of the group draw on 20 November 2026. A withdrawal after that date is not refunded, and the place passes to the next club on the waiting list.

Refunds: a club that has paid the entry fee and withdraws before the group draw receives a full refund within 30 days after the withdrawal is confirmed. If the ECC cancels the competition, or the ECC Committee excludes a club for reasons not attributable to that club, the entry fee is refunded in full within 30 days.

Selection of the 32 clubs

An application is complete once the club profile, roster pre-declaration and signed Statement are received. The ECC Committee selects the 32 clubs from the complete applications, primarily so that as many EG member federations as possible are represented; otherwise-equal applications are ranked by the time they were completed. A club accepted for a place pays the entry fee before the competition starts on 23 November 2026. A club that has not paid by then loses its place, which passes to the next club on the waiting list.

Statement of Clearance

The signed Statement declares that the application satisfies the Rulebook: club eligibility, roster and nationality rules, and recording standards. Download the Statement of Clearance (PDF), sign it and upload it with the application.
